Love of the Dragon by Anna Lowe

Dragons, duty, destined mates, and a deadly rival…

Silas Llewellyn, the last of a once-mighty dragon clan, doesn’t have time for anything but work and duty. He certainly doesn’t have time for love — not with a ruthless enemy plotting to destroy everything he holds dear. When a priceless diamond — one of the legendary Spirit Stones — surfaces in New York, Silas knows the jewel is nothing but trouble…just like the alluring woman who refuses to relinquish the gem.

Bartender Cassandra Nichols never asked to inherit a mysterious diamond, and she really never intended to come between two warring dragons. But with one near-miss escape after another, she has no choice but to choose sides. Before she knows it, she’s whisked by private jet to an oceanfront estate in Hawaii for her own “protection.” Is the enigmatic Mr. Llewellyn just another billionaire dragon who thinks he can claim anything he wants? Or is there more to the soulful stranger than meets the eye?

Sexy shifters and their feisty mates who aren’t shy about loving each other – so, this is an adult, 18+ reader tale.

It’s closing in on midnight, the witching hour, as I begin this review of Love of the Dragon… which is kinda fitting considering Cassandra’s family connections.  In actual fact right now I simply have no words to express the magic that I just read.  So I may have to sit and stare at that beautiful cover for a bit while I try to wrap my head around one amazing story – and a series that isn’t quite done with us just yet.  To tell you the absolute truth I want to talk about what I just read – the nuances, the suspicions of what might be, the stunning surprises and the complete joy of knowing there is yet more to come.  But I can’t.  I won’t take that enjoyment away from your experience.  So I’ll have to carefully find words to tell you why you should be running to your favorite outlet to pick up not only this book but the entire series… like, right now.

The battle for absolute power is coming to a head, the final spirit stone has been located and the race is on to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.  But neither Silas nor their enemies had counted on the stubborn ingenuity of one human woman to set roadblocks in their path, ones that would delay that battle and lead to so much more for Silas and Cassandra.  And… I don’t dare go into any more details for it would be so easy to slip and type the wrong comment right about now.

Cassandra is perfect for Silas, a man, a dragon who has shouldered so much on his own, works so hard to take the full brunt of this war for power.  She has the ability to calm him, to give him peace that he so badly needs.  She might have recently come into her knowledge of the other creatures who exist in her safe world, but this feisty New York bartender is no weak miss by any stretch of the imagination.  She can not only fight with him, she can fight beside him.  His dragon is in heaven at finding their mate.  Even more so when Cassandra shows her true colors as she fights at their side for what is right.  She may be new to all of this but she has a few tricks up her sleeve nonetheless.

As always I love the touches that remind me of Magnum, P.I.  Actually during the scenes where Silas and Cassandra were driving at night I found myself humming the slower parts of the theme song from Magnum, P.I. in the back of my mind without even realizing what I was doing.  So I guess I can do two things at once.  *grin*

If you have followed the Aloha Shifters – Jewels of the Heart series from the beginning you will be more than satisfied with Love of the Dragon.  These characters have become like old friends, and it was fun to interact with them all again, even if only briefly for some.  With twists and turns, new bits of information and vivid word usage, Anna Lowe takes us back to Hawaii to the skies and the lava fields with such descriptions that you can feel the heat.  I was so glad to discover that Ella will get her story told here in Lure of the Fox, and that we aren’t quite done with this amazing series just yet.

I completely loved Love of the Dragon – and I believe you will, too.  Highly recommend reading for any Shifter Romance reader, and those who also have a fondness for a certain private investigator as well.  You’ll feel right at home.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription (but I do plan to buy it to complete my set as I picked up the boxed set recently too).
