Connor and Maya are twins and natural jaguar shifters, born to shifter parents.  Back in Texas they jointly run a greenhouse company with all the usual flowers and trees plus the more exotic plants from the rain forests.  At least once a year they travel to the Amazon rain forests, back to their more natural habitat so to speak.  Where they can let their jaguars run free without too much human interference… usually.  Neither has found their mate, yet.  It’s not as if they can post an ad with Jaguar Shifter Twins Seeking Mates Preferably The Shifter Part – no, right.  So they have both felt that should they ever come across other jaguar shifters it might be an idea to keep an eye and ear out during their times in the Amazon.  Who knows exactly what is hiding there in the rain forest.

Last year, Connor had picked up the scent of a human woman in the jungle.  When he heard gunshots he shifted and ran to see if she was in danger… and she definitely was.  Tied to the pole of a tent and being held hostage for a drug lord was Kathleen.  He saved her then, but her men rescued her before she could speak to him again.  Now, a year later Kat is back in the Amazon, out of the military and looking for Connor and his jaguar to thank him for saving her life.  But Connor, Maya and Kat are not the only ones with an agenda in the jungle right now.  And very soon one twin is going to find their mate.

And that’s pretty much all I should say, but you also could have gotten most of that from the cover description.  What you won’t have gotten so far is how seamlessly the story shifts between points of view.  Of course, while in jaguar shift neither Connor nor Maya can communicate with words, but they do an amazing job with pantomime in order to get their points across.

Savage Hunger has every aspect of a shifter romance that will always draw me to this type of paranormal romance tale.  First of all there is the necessary Alpha male which Connor most definitely is without the thumping on the chest Tarzan style.  We also have a very strong yet currently wounded woman in Kat.  She’s been through hell this past year, and without knowing it instinctively she has returned to the Amazon to find what she knows she needs.  Maya, oh how I love Maya – she is the perfect, classic sister – always looking out for her brother, but not without her own strengths and unafraid to take big brother down a peg or two.  And the suspense of the stalker in the jungle, or how many stalkers are there?  Guess you’re gonna have to read for yourself to find out how all this hotness, mystery, suspense and paranormal love story is connected.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this novel and the series.  I was hooked by the end of the first chapter, and I’m betting that you would be too.  If you love paranormal romance with a touch of mystery and suspense then Savage Hunger is the right story for you.

Parts of this review originally appeared on my Keeper Bookshelf blog.  I’m moving a lot of Shifter stories that were reviewed there over to Shifter Haven where they truly belong.
