The Fighter by Reina Torres

The first rule about owning a fight club is it’s no place for kids. Even shifters.

Cage Gamble, a Jaguar Shifter in Sylvan City, owns the first licensed ‘fight club’ where men and shifters could fight in the ring or the cage. It was a good life, some work and a lot of play, until he was called to England to take custody of his best friend’s daughter. Her father’s sudden passing left her in Cage’s care. He could handle a berserk bear shifter or a gorilla full of rage with one hand, but a moody teenage lioness? Not so much.

Just when he was nearly ready to string himself up from the nearest light post and jump, his old commanding officer throws him a lifeline.

Maggie Fordice, the Colonel’s once rebellious daughter, is all grown up and moving home to Sylvan City. On paper she was just what he needed, a teen-whisperer. But up close and very personal, she was also what he didn’t need. Whip smart and voluptuous, she was a woman who could send him up in flames with a look or a wiggle.

Maggie was ready to light a match and burn his resistance to the ground, even when helping him brought danger to her doorstep. Was Cage going to fight what he felt for the fiery woman who lived across the street? Or was he going to fight for what they could have… everything?

Sexy shifters and their feisty mates who aren’t shy about loving each other – so, this is an adult, 18+ reader tale.

Title:  The Fighter

My Rating:  4.5 stars

I have loved the entire Sylvan City Alphas series and I certainly hope that there are more titles in this series one day for there are several secondary characters who are intriguing enough that I’d enjoy seeing them get their happy ending with mates of their own.  The story description gives you a very good idea of why you should be picking up Cage, Maggie and Frances’ story.  Although The Fighter can be read as a story on its own, I really believe you’ll find the most entertainment value if you read this series from the start.  There are characters who cross over into all three stories and it simply helps to have all of their backstories, in my opinion.

Frances is a fierce teenager, she’s had to be for what has happened to her recently.  She’s acting out and Cage is about at the end of his rope trying to help her adjust but it will take one woman’s unique perspective to bring them all together as a family unit.  Maggie may not be a shifter but her heart is just as fierce in protecting what she’s come to consider hers – Cage and Frances.  I really liked Maggie, she’s strong, determined, funny and has gone through the ringer herself so she truly understands Frances.  Cage is a sexy, strong alpha male.  Once he acknowledges Maggie as his mate there is nothing that will keep her from his side.  He may put op a tough guy front bur for the women in his life, his mate and his daughter, he will do anything to protect them.

There is fast paced action in The Fighter.  Vile villains that I quite enjoyed seeing them being crushed like the bugs they are.  Most definitely sexy moments as well.  Overall, The Fighter is a damned good story, one that any reader of Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance would enjoy immensely.  I’ve enjoyed every story in the Sylvan City Alphas series, and I don’t think I could pick a favorite for I’ve been caught up in each couple’s stories.  I would definitely recommend these stories – indulge yourself and enjoy.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
