Posted June 8, 2019 by Marsha in Shifter, Shifter Connected, Shifter Series / 0 Comments

He’s looking for forgiveness.
She’s looking for a fighting chance.

Graham Long left his career—and his real name—behind to make a fresh start for himself at Shifting Sands. He’s done with dueling and wants nothing more than to quietly raise his strawberries and tend the lawns at the tropical shifters-only resort.

A fight is the last thing he wants when his lion insists that his friend’s bear shifter bridesmaid is his destined mate.

But fiercely independent Alice Anders has a life of her own already. She’s not going to turn her back on the people who need her and the job she loves just to run away to a tropical island paradise with a gorgeous gardener that makes her knees weak with one blue-eyed glance. She’s not at the resort to find her own true love… and she’s not there only as a bridesmaid, either. She’s been given a fighting chance to save her family: all she has to do is uncover the shift form of the mysterious resort owner, Scarlet, for an equally mysterious man for whom money is no object.

Between the secrets they’re keeping and the answers they’re searching for, it’s a hard road to honesty, and a harder road still to a happy ever after.

Can Graham keep ahead of the enemies from his past? Will Alice figure out who he really is… and if she does, will she ever be able to forgive him for the things he’s done and the secrets he’s keeping from her?

Her Cougar Sunrise by Moxie North

Posted February 5, 2019 by Marsha in Shifter / 0 Comments

Stupid shifters and their instalove!

Tessa Blackwood was pissed. She had a nice guy, good dates, a future… possibly. Then he ghosted her after leaving a voicemail breaking up with her. In a severely inebriated state (okay drunken), she might have called Gerri Wilder at the Paranormal Dating Agency and blamed her and all shifter kind for the loss of her boyfriend/potential husband

Levi Nash didn’t see the point in hunting down a mate. It either happened or it didn’t. He hasn’t had much luck on his own due to the secret he keeps from most people. That didn’t stop his little sister from signing him up with the PDA.

A single beer and a new waitress was all it took to change his destiny. Convincing Tessa that mates can happen in the blink of an eye was the only way to ensure both of them had a happy future.

This is an adult, 18+ story which contains language and sexual situations geared to an adult audience.

“Her Cougar Sunrise” is part of the Paranormal Dating Agency World.  More information about this amazing line of Shifter Tales can be found on the Paranormal Dating Agency World page.

Werewolf’s Surrogate by Mia Wolf

Posted January 29, 2019 by Marsha in Shifter / 0 Comments

What do you do when the heat is unbearable, but your heart isn’t ready?

Rex is the Alpha of Wolf Mountain and the biggest party animal in town. Being hit by his huge claws means being out of commission forever.

But Rex is in trouble. The Elders want him to have a family to secure the pack’s future. And Rex doesn’t want a mate. Luckily, a surrogate by the name of Felicity is the perfect solution.

She’s definitely not his type. And he definitely doesn’t feel completely awkward around her. Definitely not.

Felicity is out of money and has nowhere to go. So when she’s offered a large sum to carry someone’s baby, she says yes. The only drawback is that she has to stay at a mysterious manor with the baby’s father. Which is fine.

Except that the guy radiates arrogance and unfortunately looks like the cover model for a romance novel. His forearms are deliciously muscled and veiny and … Stop! She’s SO not going to drool over him.

But there are secrets at Rex’s manor. And Felicity isn’t safe here.

When an old rival takes everything away from him, can Rex’s primal instinct protect all he has left? With the baby growing in her, can Felicity deny her maternal instinct? And can Rex and Felicity stand the unbearable heat between them?

This is an adult 18+ story with language and sexual situations that are geared toward that age audience.

Bleu has been living an isolated life away from the clan of Gray Ridge. He’s a happy bear shifter, building furniture and being alone…until a little curvy woman literally crashes into his life. When he pulls her from her car after she wraps it around a tree, he is blindsided by the connection. Never before has he wanted a mate, but finding Lola changes all that.

Lola didn’t plan on her deadbeat mom blowing the rent and then skipping town, so she’s without a home. Again. But this time it’s going to be different. Hearing whispers of shifters in Gray Ridge, she takes off in search of something, anything, that can bring some light to her life. When her car slips and she ends up in danger, she never expects her rescuer to be the one to give her everything she’s ever wanted.

Do You Form An Emotional Bond With The People In A Book?

Posted October 15, 2018 by Marsha in Shifter / 0 Comments

I just finished a pretty amazing book.  One where I’ve known the main character’s family, her father, her mother, her uncles and close friends for a long time now.  I have a bond with that character unlike any other.  Why?  Because the author made her and her entire family come alive for me over time until I know them almost as well as my own family.

Readers, bloggers… we kinda joke about book boyfriends, or book friends but there is probably more truth than joke to those statements, even if we’d rarely admit it.

Shifter romance is a genre that I don’t ever see myself growing tired of.  And, no, it’s not the hot, sexy Alpha males or the flaming sex scenes… although they have their enjoyment factor.  It’s really that I don’t find that type of attachment to the characters that I feel toward a Shifter couple as compared to any other genre.  I think there are a couple reasons (aside from the hot sexy stuff) that I feel that way.

I like the idea of fate stepping in, of knowing that there is one perfect for me person out there somewhere who is also searching.  I enjoy seeing a character say screw you to our society and fall in love with someone that might not be seen as “perfect” enough – that actually makes my day quite often.  The sense of belonging to a larger group of people who share a deep bond, a unified front, a history is also a strong point for Shifter romance.

But most of all… I enjoy reading a story that can touch my emotions, make me mad, sad, angry, giddy, nervous and just plain happy.  A story where with a few words I’m reminded of another story with familiar faces and there is a sense of reliving that story over again as I remember – her father, his sister, their cousin, their pack mate.  There’s a connection that flows through long series, connecting series that gives me a full circle look around the people within that universe.  A connection.  One that I rarely find in any other genre.  Oh, I can think of two offhand – but two compared to the hundreds of Shifter romances I’ve read and connected with is a bit lopsided don’t you think?

I understand that not every reader enjoys or even ‘gets’ Paranormal Romance.  You do have to stretch your imagination to envision a man’s body changing shape from human to wolf or bear or lion.  Yet, I make that transition very easily now, in a way the Shifter’s worlds have become my own because I accept them for exactly what they are… amazing flights of imagination that I love getting caught up in.

So to answer my own question:  “Do You Form An Emotional Bond With The People In A Book?” the simple answer is… Yes.  When I can cry real tears, when a scene will linger in my mind long after I’ve read on from it, when finding justice for a wrong is just as important to me as it is to the character… then yes, I do bond emotionally with the characters I’m reading about.  Like today – when the main character went back home and the scene was familiar, and the faces she saw were definitely loved and that sense of finally coming home was felt through the screen of my Kindle… then yes, yes I do connect — and when I stop connecting that is when I need to shut down the Kindle for the last time.
