Cover Description:

Paramedic Catalina Mendez just flew back to America after months of volunteering in a disaster-stricken country. Reluctant to return to her lonely home and empty bed, she decides to take a late-night stroll. Then a handsome wounded man collapses at her feet. He tells her to run to save herself, but Catalina refuses to leave him. When they’re both kidnapped by a ruthless black ops agency, the adventure that follows will test her courage— and her heart— to the limit.

Panther shifter Shane Garrity is the odd man out among the bodyguards of Protection, Inc., an all-shifter private security agency. His cool exterior conceals unique powers… and dark secrets. The last thing he wants is to fall in love. But when he meets Catalina, he recognizes his mate. He’d die to protect her. But if he reveals his love, their kidnappers will use his feelings against them both.

Can Shane and Catalina break free of the sinister black ops agency? And can a fearless woman and a man who uses fear as a weapon face the one thing that scares them both, and open their hearts to love?

Shifters never hesitate to show their physical love for their mates – and Shane is certainly no exception so this is an 18+ story.

Read on for my thoughts on Protector Panther.

I have been fascinated and drawn to Shane from the very first mention of him in Bodyguard Bear, the first story in this series.  Let’s be honest, I’m a sucker for the bad, bad boys – and does Shane ever fit that bill.  There is a quirky “thing” that the members of Protection, Inc. do to a new mate of any member – kinda like a rite of passage.  Shane’s is the scariest, and yet it also draws one to his obvious powers.  Spine tingling is a good description.

The cover description gives you a good overall look at this story, so I’m not going to do more of a tease for this one.  I’d rather talk about the depths of this story, without giving away spoilers that are not mentioned in that cover description.  *insert evil grin*

Two things that are very true – you cannot outrun your past and Apex is a nasty, evil group of scientists who should know better.  Shane knows exactly how evil they are since he’s escaped from their clutches before.  Catalina is learning just how ruthless and evil these people are.  While the thought of super powers is seductive, Catalina has a stronger head on her shoulders and works with Shane to make their escape before it’s too late… for either of them.

In Protector Panther we get a better idea of Shane’s abilities and how he came by them.  He is a strong character, passionate and aloof in the same package.  He has hidden secrets still, regrets of things he was unable to do and those will play into this story as well.

Since this is only the third story in this series, it’s perhaps unfair to those unread stories for me to declare this one as my favorite of the series – but it certainly is.  Shane and Catalina provide a passionate, sexy, suspenseful page turner of a story.  If you are an action fan, you’ll find plenty of plot turns and some twists that you may not see coming.

I would not hesitate to recommend this story or this series to any Shifter Romance reader, or Paranormal Romance in general.  It’s a good, solid story that will keep your attention up until the last page – then you’ll be waiting for the next one.  Me, too.
