By choice, bear shifter Joel Bennett lives alone on an unforgiving mountain—but that’s about to change.

When Anna Carter shows up near his cabin and needs rescuing, Joel’s inner bear roars at him that she’s his fated lifemate.

But he knows that’s impossible.

Fate would never pair him up with a full human, especially one foolish enough to get trapped on the mountain in the middle of a blizzard.

Joel vows that he won’t give in to his burning desire to claim Anna as his mate. But as the blizzard howls on and he’s forced to share his small cabin with this mysterious but beautiful human, Joel feels his resolve starting to break down.

And he feels his alpha bear starting to take over.

After all these years of loneliness, is it possible that this mighty mountain bear has finally found true mate love?

This is an adult 18+ story that contains language, possible violence, and sexual situations geared to an adult audience.

Title:  Rescued on Bear Mountain
Series:  Bear Mountain Shifters #1

My Rating:  4 stars

Rescued on Bear Mountain begins the Bear Mountain Shifters series with a couple that fate has set to meet on their path in life, yet both have to be willing to take the risk of trusting their hearts.

Joel is a bear shifter living in a small village/town near the top of the mountain.  His life is coming together between work and his projects, enough that he’s been doing a lot of thinking of lifemates and cubs lately.  His town is isolated, not very welcoming to strangers, and involved in a long time feud with the small town of Pine Springs in the valley below for generations.  So it probably shouldn’t be a surprise when a fully human woman steps into the diner on Bear Mountains and upsets everyone with her questions – yet stuns Joel when his bear roars for his fated lifemate.  No.  Not happening because no human and bear shifter could possibly be mates.  Yeah.   Try telling that to fate.

Anna is searching for… something.  She loves her job as a teacher to first graders, but not her principal.  She longs for something more, a place that moves her, excites her, is a true home for her.  So on Winter Break, she’s in this small snow-covered town looking for that elusive something – and defying all logic or advice given – and ignoring the warnings – since she feels that perfect picture she searching for can be found up the mountain.  She’s right.  The scene she wants to photograph is up on the mountain – and so is her future, her lifemate… if she doesn’t run away from him in fear.

I enjoyed Rescued on Bear Mountain.  It sets up the basics of the series with a tale of two people who in normal circumstances wouldn’t meet yet fate had other plans for Joel and Anna.  I do have to admit it took me longer to warm up to Anna, I’m not a huge fan of the frightened of everything heroine and to start that’s how I saw Anna, but she grows, comes into her own, and perhaps, surprised me along the way.  We met a few residents of Bear Mountain and I’m certainly looking forward to learning more about this out-of-the-way town at the top of the mountain.
