White Star introduces us to the new series by Sarah J. Stone, Wolves of West Valley.  A wolf shifter town, an ongoing mystery, missing Alphas and the small town gossips and close knit residents all give us a taste of the world building in play for this series.  I’ll be straight forward and admit that it tool me a little bit of time to find the natural flow of this story.  Yet once I did I found this story easily moved from introduction to a full first story of a series.

While this story ended at around the 16% point on my Kindle (there are bonus books included), I would consider this a quick read as well as an introduction to the series.  Since it is a short read it’s very easy to give away spoilers.  So the basics are that Willow has arrived in town to do a review on the local resort.  She’s accustomed to being pampered in the hopes of giving an excellent rating.  She’s often bored and likes to use her journalistic skills by looking into the town’s history for interesting stories.  She finds one, and begins asking questions… of the wrong kind.  Carter works security for the resort, he’s also the person who protects the Alpha of the pack.  Although granted it should be a full time job, a man still has to eat so he isn’t constantly with the current Alpha.  Their attraction to each other is very real, very sexy and plays a huge part in the story line of White Star.  And that’s all I’m going to give.  Although, I must admit, I never saw that reveal coming.  It was played perfectly.  Enough so to get my curiosity growing to see where this series will go next.

If you are a reader who enjoys having a mystery to solve, in addition to the usual antics of a Shifter Romance, then I believe you would enjoy this story.  I’m not really certain where this series is going to head next… I’ve some suspicions but I’ve learned to wait to see what the author does.  But I will be picking up the next story as there are some fascinating bits of Shifter lore going on here and I’d love to see where it takes us.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
