Alaska was supposed to give me the fresh start I need to finally shed my miserable past. But when an accident leaves me stranded deep in the forest, I find myself in the care of a bearded giant who threatens to upend all my carefully laid plans.

Everett Laskin is everything I don’t want: big, burly, and overly curious. He wants to learn all my secrets. I want him to look the other way so I can escape his cabin and get back to enjoying life without an ankle monitor.

But my soft-spoken captor is also full of surprises. Like how there’s a brilliant scientist under those big muscles and flannel shirts. And how his sexy smiles and broad shoulders make my body melt and my brain turn to mush.

The more time I spend with him, the harder it is to resist the urge to put down roots. Then I discover Everett isn’t quite what he seems—and the life he offers might just trap me in a prison I can never escape.

(This series has a definite Dom/Sub feel to it – if that’s not your thing then maybe something else by this author might fit your tastes better. Just an FYI)

Title:  A Bear to Love
Series:  Kodiak Mates #1
Author:  Amy Pennza

My Rating:  4 stars

A Bear to Love begins the Kodiak Mates series with one sizzling, sexy story that will grab your attention quickly.  Not only is it passionate but if you enjoy a Dom/Sub vibe, then you’ll find that here as well.

Skyler hasn’t had the easiest of lives, yet she’s worked hard, saved her money, and has taken off on the adventure, the dream of a lifetime.  She’s leaving the stifling, expensive California life behind and heading into the wilderness of Alaska, specifically to a small, tiny town that she’s researched and sounds perfect for what she wants.  She might have only planned on two weeks, but maybe she can turn fourteen days into a lifetime of doing what she wants which is to write romance novels.  But what actually happened was probably not what she anticipated when she is startled by a bear, trips on a tree root, and wakes up in a very handsome doctor’s bed.

Everett is certain that the human he suddenly came upon is his mate, if the intensity of the attraction is anything to go by then he’s finally found the human woman meant only for him… maybe.  But some things just don’t add up – and he’s in deep trouble with his clan for keeping quiet about the beauty in his bed.  In spite of everything going on Everett and Skyler explode with physical attraction and emotions are starting to creep in as well.  When Skyler learns the whole truth about this town and this man, well, Everett isn’t sure that she’ll stay.  And he really needs, wants her to stay for a lifetime.

There are some aspects of A Bear to Love that I’m not comfortable putting in a review for they fall into that spoiler zone of mine.  So there are things that you’ll discover for yourself firsthand when you start on this series.  The sizzling chemistry between this couple is hot as a fireplace – and the underlying danger is apparent as the story moves along.  We have one villain who I loathed at first sight, long before I knew all the information about his actions.  Everett and Skyler set up this series very nicely, and the introduction of the next bear/man to get his story told slid naturally into this one and made certain that I’d want to pick up A Bear to Ruin when it’s released.  I enjoyed myself and if you love a romance that is off the charts hot in the passion department then this is perfect for you.
