He’s a lone wolf who doesn’t want to get tied down—by a mate or by a pack bond.
She’s an aspiring model who got in too deep with the wrong people—and now they want her dead.

But when these two opposites meet, it’s explosive…

Switch is a helicopter pilot, who does pro-bono jobs helping innocent people go underground to avoid psycho exes and crime bosses. But when he picks up Breanna to take her to a safe house, everything goes to hell.

The rendezvous turns into an ambush, and they barely get away. His only option is to take her to his friends at Outlaw Ridge until they can find somewhere for her to go. Because Switch in no way wants a helpless, lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous human cream puff on his hands any longer than necessary.

But Breanna has more to her than he thought—and he can’t help being more and more drawn to her. The only thing is, she also has deadly secrets—and she may not share them until it’s too late…

Title:  Rescued
Series:  Outlaw Wolves #2
Author:  Anastasia Wilde
Published:  June 23, 2022
My Rating:  4.5

Rescued is the second story in the Outlaw Wolves series, and this one is filled to overflowing with danger and laughter.  I loved every moment back in this world once again.  Yet, I also have to admit to being a bit torn about Breanna.  There were moments when she was annoying beyond belief, selfish, and a bit snobbish, no, make that very snobbish.  Add to those impressions the fact that she placed this entire compound full of misfit shifters (and her mate) in danger by keeping vital secrets from them… and those two secrets came back to bite extremely hard.  On the other hand, I adored her TV-watching with some of the guys and her belief that chocolate chip cookies can cure anything or any mistakes she’s made with this crew.  Then there’s the obvious connection with Switch that both are having a hard time defining exactly what they are to each other.  To say that Breanna is a complicated woman is an understatement.  And some of those first impressions are explained further in the story, others are not.  I liked her but didn’t always respect or understand her reasoning for her actions.  Her secret almost got people killed, that’s a pretty big deal, ya know?

I absolutely adored Switch.  Yes, he is one dangerous man in his own right.  But he’s also a compassionate man who will do pro bono rescues in the middle of the night with little thought to his own safety.  He’s a lone wolf, yet he hangs out with a whole bunch of PTSD wolves who make up this misfit pack to the point of taking over a guest cabin as his own.  He’s stubborn, a bit dangerous, sexy as sin, and finds himself in the odd position of knowing Breanna is his mate but not wanting it to be true.  So, he protects her and tries to help her get back to the life she wants, all the while knowing that he’s sending his other half, his mate, away.  The secrets she kept from him are deadly, and there is only one way to freedom now… face down the villain, and hope to survive that encounter.

I loved the secondary characters we met from this pack, laughed out loud so many times at their antics, and I can’t wait to read their stories.  In spite of not really liking Breanna that much, I did enjoy this story very much.  It’s well-written, fast-paced, and definitely action-filled with believable characters and a love that, should two stubborn people get out of their own way, last a lifetime.  I don’t have to love every character in a book to consider it an excellent overall story.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
