Beck is back in town. After a year away he’s learned there is no place like home.

He’s also learned that life is full of surprises and you should never take anything for granted.  Then his mate walks into his life. He’s ready to settle down and work hard to build a good life in Bear Creek.  However, fate is about to remind him that things do not always run smoothly, even when it comes to true love.

They sweep their women off their feet and stay together forever. Wasn’t that what Aunt Betsy had said about the men in Bear Creek?

Kassia wasn’t sure she wanted to be swept off her feet. After being betrayed by a man who swore he loved her, she needed time for her heart to heal.

But Beck promised to mend her broken heart and keep it safe forever. Surely that was worth a second chance at love?  However, when someone begins stalking Kassia, she must work with Beck to prevent the past ruining their future together.

But whose past is hunting them?

This is an adult 18+ story that contains language, possible violence, and sexual situations geared to an adult audience.  A silverback seasoned shifters romance.

Title:  Beck
Series:  Winter – Shifter Seasons #2
Author:  Harmony Raines
Published:  April 17, 2020
My Rating:  4.5 stars

Returning home after a year away, a year full of self-discovery and a bit of a mystery, Beck has come back to Bear Creek a far different man than left to “find himself”.  He wasn’t certain of how his family would react and that laid heavy on his heart.  Yet, a family is everything, especially in Bear Creek and soon Beck was back working with his brothers at the sawmill.  He never expected to finally find her, his mate, back where he ran from before.  Add to his confusion, she’s not the least bit interested, and she is hiding her own pain as well.

Kassia has no idea that shifters exist.  Oh, her aunt makes comments about how the couples in Bear Creek seem to just “know” that they’re right for each other but she has no solid facts to back up that claim.  In any event, Kassia doesn’t care for she’s never giving another man the chance to destroy her life ever again.  When a stranger stops working on a downed tree in the middle of the street to stare soulfully at her, Kassia’s first instinct is to cut and run – fast.  She has no clue that her shifter mate has just found her, and will do everything in his power to protect and love her.  All she sees is yet another man out to take over her life, and she’s not interested.

Kassia and Beck both have had events that happen in the recent past that have changed them from the people they once were.  As the attraction between them builds so does the danger that haunts their footsteps.  Beck is full of surprises and kept me completely glued to my Kindle throughout.  I love any Bear Creek/Bear Bluff story but this one captured my heart quickly with characters to enjoy, root for, and hiss at.  Yeah, I had a blast and would definitely recommend it.
