Being with her is like soaring, even with my feet firmly planted on the ground.

Her life is an open book, recorded for the world to see. But when I watch her videos, I know it’s a performance. She’s an actress, hiding her truth.

There’s sadness behind her positive words and generous smiles. There’s pain that I want to kiss away.

She pretends to be the persona she’s created, but I see the real her.

She finds a little dog who’s as lost as she is. Where it runs, she follows. But it’s me who’s following her.

I’m head over heels for a woman I’ve just met. And I’ll do whatever it takes to make her mine.

This is an adult 18+ story that contains language, possible violence and sexual situations geared to an adult audience.

Genre:  Paranormal Romance

My Rating:  4.5 stars

Fated in Forbidden continues the Alpha & Alchemy Fierce Mates series with a story that grabbed my attention and held it captive until the final page.  I love the work of these two authors independently and follow them (and their book adventures), yet put them together writing and the result is explosive, addictive, sexy… and filled with the kind of humor that I eat up like M & M candies.

Finn and Sophie are worlds apart in life but fate doesn’t care about that when matching up mates.  It’s just going to take a bit longer than usual for Finn to actually acknowledge that connection.  Oh, a sexy attraction he can agree to but that forever thing?  That will take some adjustment.  As Sophie arrives at the B & B in Forbidden for a girl’s pre-wedding week with two friends she’s facing some life lessons that even though she is a positivity podcaster, well, with a truly toxic friend and the odd things happening in her life right now it’s not easy staying positive.  Yet finding one adorable pup and discovering the sexiness that is Finn might make this trip salvageable – but that’s a big “might” as strange illnesses begin showing up in this small town and Sophie sees something she couldn’t have possibly seen, right?

When a reader enters into a Paranormal/Fantasy world we set aside logic and believe in the author’s created world.  Still, I am a reader who wants certain things to make sense (even if in that world they cannot), can’t help it, it’s that Vulcan side of me popping out every now and then.  Without giving away spoilers, there is an event in Fated in Forbidden that drives the story in many ways – I was blown away by the absolute fact that the answer given makes perfect, logical, intellectual sense.  I respect authors who give me logical reasons in the middle of a paranormal world because even in fantasy there are rules of engagement and some things just have to make sense.  So, yes, I can easily say that I loved Finn and Sophie’s romance, the quirky residents of this small magical town, and a story that made me laugh, got me annoyed, and allowed me to feel right at home again in this world.  If you love a really good Paranormal/Shifter Romance then you should be following this series.
