Boarlander Bash BearSebastian “Bash” Kane is ready for a mate. He’s been fighting for his lumberjack crew of bear shifters to lift the ban on women in the trailer park, and his alpha has just given him the go ahead to find the woman of his dreams. But when he meets a shy newspaper editor in a diner, it becomes clear that finding a mate might not be so easy. Emerson Elliot is only looking for a friend, and even if she feels like so much more, Bash can’t push her. He knows she’s the one, but he’ll have to be a patient hunter if he wants to keep an intelligent, curvy beauty like her.

Emerson Elliot is looking for friends. She’s back in her hometown where everything is different, and working from home isn’t helping her meet people. But when Bash sits down beside her at a diner, she knows the fates are messing with her. She’s been carrying a crush for the handsome, fun-loving bear shifter for years, but their timing couldn’t be worse. Her life is taking a hard right turn, and she can’t afford to fall in love until her future is all sorted out. Unfortunately, big changes are coming to Boarland Mobile Park, and if she doesn’t make up her mind about Bash soon, she might lose his offered place beside him forever.

Sexy shifters and their feisty mates who aren’t shy about loving each other – so, this is an adult, 18+ reader tale.

Title:  Boarlander Bash Bear
Series:  Boarlander Bears #2
Author:  T. S. Joyce
Published:  February 11, 2016
My Rating:  4.5 stars

Bash is, at heart, such a gentle soul.  He is strong, sexy and powerful, he is also near genius in some areas and yet almost child-like in his total honest approach of saying exactly what’s on his mind with little filters.  Bash is one of my favorites in this series.  Oh, I love all these guys, no doubt, but some for various reasons hold that special spot in my reader’s heart… and Bash is one of those.  I think Bash is one of those men that women say they want – open, honest and no game playing – but don’t know quite what to do with when they find him.  As my Gram would have said, “He’s a sweetheart and a keeper”… yes he definitely is that.

Since Harrison, Bash’s alpha, has lifted the ban on women in the trailer part Bash can finally look for his mate without angering his alpha.  Bash wants that special someone he knows is out there for him.  It’s a longing that’s almost heartbreaking in it’s sincerity.  His mate is nearer than he thinks, but the road to their happiness is going to be rocky.  Yet anything worth having in your life is worth fighting for… even when that challenge involves the one you love.

Emerson is…complicated.  I freely admit that it took me a bit of time to see her through Bash’s eyes as a perfect mate for him.  She’s so smart about so many thing, yet so cocooned in her safe world about many things.  Watching her emerge, take on the anti-shifters in a way that has impact, seeing how she moves from afraid to reach out for what she wants to fully getting close to the man she’s always been attracted to – those steps mattered and made her into a woman who would fit with this man, and this crew.

Boarlander Bash Bear has everything that I enjoy in Shifter Romance.  A likable couple, an issue to overcome, danger, a close knit community, of course sexy times and secondary characters who make this world come alive.  If you look at the date of this review, you’ll see that I’m doing some catching up on reviews for books that I had a binge reading of a while back.  When I read this book our real world was a bit different.  Now some parts of this story hit home so strongly.  I’ve not said this before, but I admire T.S. Joyce for putting the reality of the world within her stories.  Hatred is fear no matter if it’s in our modern day to day world or if it’s within the imaginary world of Shifters.  I’ve often thought that she shares the talent of Gene Roddenberry in the ability of being able to show us a taste of reality in a world of our imagination… and address the reality with grace and honesty.

I would highly recommend Boarlander Bash Bear and all the stories and series of Damon’s Mountains to any Paranormal Romance or  Shifter Romance reader
