WILD FATE truly put me through an emotional wringer.  We’ve seen Alex from almost the beginning of the Black Claw Ranch series, certainly seen his fury at being forcefully changed (I always imagined that as a kind of rape – it certainly is changing a life with no thought to the consequences), and his inability to find his maker, even though he was always on the lookout for him.  He is an angry, hopeless man who has lost his humanity, his life, and the woman who he would do anything to protect – even walk away from without a face to face break up because of his overwhelming fear that his bear would hurt her in some fashion, even though his actions did the same emotionally.  He never stopped loving Liv, but he couldn’t have her in his life.  Protecting his mate from himself was his main concern, even if in the beginning he had no clue what a mate truly was.  He can’t stop fighting, his bear is out of control, and it won’t be long before his Alpha has to put him down – perhaps, that’s what Alex wants.

It’s been six years since Alex walked away and Liv still thinks of him, is furious with him and perhaps still, in some corner of her heart, still loves the jerk.  Right now though she’s starting a new job doing what she loves – figuring out puzzles.  That’s all a scientist is at the core, really, at least for her, that’s true.  She never thought that she’d be living and working in the town that Alex has found some sort of refuge.  Definitely never expected to set eyes on him again.  Yet, there he is – and obviously none too pleased to see her either.

Alex and Liv’s story is gut-wrenching at times, full of laughter at others, and always full of sensuous tensions between them – that part of their former lives has never gone away.  There is a real danger to Liv on two fronts, and Alex is still stubbornly believing that she’s better off without him.  Yet, having her so close is changing his mind, in some ways quieting his bear for moments at a time, and he’s beginning to rethink what their future might hold.

The danger is very real and kept me engaged in their story throughout.  There is tension, danger, revisiting old friends, and a love worth fighting for in WILD FATE.  I enjoyed every moment spent in this world once again, and would not hesitate to recommend this story or the entire series to any Paranormal or Shifter Romance reader.
